This training was created by and for people utilizing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to empower patients as peers and as leaders. We'll work with patients and MAT program staff to create a unique recovery community and culture of support within the MAT agencies. Participants will learn to cultivate patient-lead mutual-aid self help including recovery support, leadership development, and education about medication-assisted treatment and recovery. We provide all the materials and information needed to start and maintain your own patient-lead program, including ideas for engaging patient support groups, a tour of the original MARS™ project, and follow-up consultation to support your efforts.
Who should attend:
Patients taking medication for opioid use disorder (OUD), recovery coaches, interested support staff, and, if available, an administrator and/or counselor from local Medication Assisted Treatment providers.
What's the catch?
Nothing about us without us. There is no catch. You don't even have to use your real name to register.
* Each patient will receive $50 stipends for each day of training attended. Stipends are dispensed via gift
cards upon training completion.
* We will work with the host site to ensure coffee, snacks, and lunch are provided for patients.
* We understand that patients utilizing MAT may have many time restrictions with work, child-care & dosing.
Please let us know if you'd like to attend the training, but have some time constraints.
Why do I need to register in advance?
This helps us determine how many manuals, food, and stipends to bring. This training is being offered to Texas MAT patients by the University of Texas at Austin School of Pharmacy via funding from Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Because this training is paid for with grant funding, we do ask for demographics, but you do not have to provide any vital identifying information like your name, phone number or email. Also, you can choose "prefer not to answer" if that is more comfortable. We ensure all participant information is de-identified and aggregated before sharing with UT School of Pharmacy.
